LMS/BSHM Hirst Prize and Lectureship Winner 2025

It is our pleasure to announce that Professor June Barrow-Green of the Open University is awarded the Hirst Prize and Lectureship in recognition of her outstanding research and leadership in the history of mathematics.

June Barrow-Green is one of the UK’s most accomplished and versatile historians of mathematics. Focusing primarily on the mathematics of the 19th and 20th centuries, her work covers a host of diverse areas, from the history of dynamical systems to Victorian mathematics textbooks. The Hirst Prize and Lectureship is awarded jointly by the LMS and the British Society for the History of Mathematics. The Hirst Lecture will be held in spring 2026.
